Thank you for your interest in joining our new E2S team at UF. I'm Muhammed Enes, the founder of E2S and student organization OurWorld at UF. Here is some information about the new program and E2S below.
English2Success is a voluntary teaching initiative aimed at providing quality online English education for underprivileged teens worldwide. E2S lessons are conducted online, pairing each student with a tutor. The tutor hosts a weekly session at a time that works for both parties and teaches the student to the best of their ability. More information about this is available in the About E2S page.
I founded E2S while studying at an international school in Germany in 2022. Everyone spoke English really well at my school, and I realized they could tutor students from impoverished areas in my country over Zoom. In most third-world countries, English teachers don’t speak English well themselves, so simply having the chance to speak with someone fluent in the language can greatly boost a student’s abilities.
The program was a major success in its first year. Most students were very satisfied. When I realized the impact it had on them, I wanted to grow it even further to help more students. That’s when we started expanding to other international schools—several in Europe, one school in Hong Kong, one in China, one in the USA, and one in Costa Rica.
Today, over 150 volunteers from these schools tutor students who really can’t afford English education. Most of the students are from countries like Afghanistan, Malawi, India, and Thailand.
As a part of this team, you’ll have the opportunity to tutor a student in need, learn about a completely different culture. and get to collaborate and socialize with fellow honors peers interested in volunteering and tutoring. English2Success here at UF is also a part of our registered student organization, OurWorld.
When I first started the program, I tutored a student for three months. After that time, I could clearly see how much more confident he was in speaking, and how much his skills had improved. He even told me he was accepted into a fully funded European Union exchange program, letting him explore a completely new world. This was an opportunity that he had never anticipated before. The reason he was accepted was because of the speaking skills he developed with my help through E2S. It felt amazing to know I had played a part in his success. It’s an incredible experience to see how much your student grows.
If you’re interested in changing the world for the better, tutoring, and working with international students, I urge you to consider joining. Feel free to email me at mbilek@ufl.edu if you have any questions. I’ll respond as soon as I can!
